The 1936-S dime is an extremely common coin in all grades through MS67. Many were struck with excellent details, lending to a relatively high number of Full Bands survivors even in the Gem grades. As with many other Mercury dimes struck in the mid 1930s, collectors have plenty of opportunities to be choosy, selecting a top-grade example with. The 1936 Proof Mercury Dimes were only produced in a Brilliant finish unlike the cent and Nickel Proofs from 1936 which came in two different finishes. PR60-63: Several hundred examples may exist in this condition and these are coins are the ones that were probably cleaned or stored incorrectly.
