1925 Silver Dollar Value

The 1925 Peace Dollar (Buy on eBay) was the last issue of the series to have a mintage above the 10 million level. At the onset of the series, the heavier production was the result of the requirement of the Pittman Act to strike silver dollars to replace those previously melted. With this requirement nearing satisfaction, there was little need to produce the coins in higher numbers especially given the still lingering hoards of Morgan Silver Dollars in storage.

This issue is considered to be common within the series and is typically found well struck and with good luster, often carrying slight golden toning. The major grading services PCGS and NGC have certified more than 30,000 examples at the MS64 grade level, more than 18,000 at MS65, and more than 3,500 at MS66, and about 180 pieces at MS67.

Along with the 1924 Philadelphia coin, this is one of one two issues of the series where examples have been graded MS68 by the major grading services. PCGS and NGC have each graded at single example at this lofty grade level. The PCGS MS68 graded coin sold for $89,125 at an auction held in 2011.
